RG-070. Color Requirements

A horse meeting bloodline requirements outlined in Rule RG-015. must take a definite "natural Paint mark".
The term "natural Pigment mark" shall hateful a predominant hair coat colour with at least i contrasting area of solid white hair of the required size with some underlying unpigmented skin present on the horse at the time of its nativity. This solid white area must be in the prescribed zone depicted in the illustration below. In the consequence the equus caballus has a predominantly white hair coat, the term "natural Pigment mark" shall mean at least one contrasting area of the required size of colored hair with some underlying pigmented skin nowadays on the horse at the time of its birth.

To qualify for the Regular Registry by glaze markings, the white marker must:

  • Be ii″  or more in size of solid (unbroken) white pilus
  • Have some underlying unpigmented skin
  • Be located in the qualifying area (see diagram—basically above the center of the knees or hocks, or behind an imaginary line from the base of the ear to the exterior corner of the heart to the corner of the oral fissure and under the mentum)

Non-qualifying areas include but are not limited to the following locations:

  • Eyeballs
  • Lips of vulva
  • Shaft of penis
  • Inner sheath non visible without physical manipulation of the area

Some solid horses might qualify for the Regular Registry based on Deoxyribonucleic acid — see the rulebook for details (RG-070.E. and RG-070.F.).
